Our Annual Open House 2006

The owners of The Young's Pub!

We had our Annual Open House tonight and we had a great time in our new Pub basement....it was what we wanted it to be warm, welcoming and full of friends....what's life without friends? It really made the Christmas season come alive. We look forward to this day every year. Thanks for everyone that came...and those of you who couldn't you were missed! Posted by Picasa

Here is the almost finished basement.....Ken has worked so hard on this....he got the rest of the laminate last week and finished that up...just trim and a few bits and pieces to do but that can wait until the new year Posted by Picasa

My Idol!

This picture of Jann Arden was taken on November 2, 2006 at her concert I went to.....I was able to get it tonight as I went to Yvonne's house, she had brought her camera that night and took pictures but wasn't able to email for some reason so I was able to get this one emailed over to me......for those who don't know me she is my favorite singer, "My Idol" and I say this to everyone, "that one day before I die I want to meet with her and have coffee or lunch (I'll pay....he he)"....so if anyone can arrange that dream of mine that would be greatly appreciated.....he he! Luckily A Day Off!

Today I have the day off and I guess that's a lucky thing.........Megan has been battling a cough for almost 2 weeks and it just keeps getting worse.............last night I was up at 12:30 am; 1:45 am; then again at 2:20 am until 3:50 am....Megan has a really bad cough, so I was going from bringing her into the steaming bathroom to going out on the front step where it was freezing to help her.......It calmed it down a bit but then I thought about the last time she was like this and we had taken her to the hospital and they had put her on puffers and an airchamber so I ran and got that........I know you shouldn't use old medication the puffers were from Sept 2005 but I had to try since she was bad........I was thinking of going to the hospital with her and I really didn't want to since I did get a family Dr appointment for 11:40 am today and I thought that if I went to the hospital they would probably see us at the same time our family Dr would.....After a little while after taking the puffer she calmed down a bit.....she has a rattle in her chest which I'm sure is bronchitis (but I'll let the Dr diagnois).....she's sleeping now (9:07 am)....and I guess I should as well.....I have a lot to do today in the house which was the reason for my day off.....anyway I better get to it while she's sleeping.

2006 Work Christmas Party

Tonight we went to my works Christmas party. It was dinner and dancing downtown on a boat. The boat didn't end up leaving the dock since it the wind was so horrible....but the night ended up being a fun night. I think most people enjoyed it.

Thanks to Yvonne & Eldon for looking after Megan for her first overnight stay away from us, Megan really enjoyed herself and said to us after we had picked her up, "can I stay 2 nights next time?" I guess that experience of a sleepover was positive which made us feel all that better, next time it will be easier for me.......see I said next time.

A Night on The Town!

Tonight the 3 of us went out for the night to see the performance of the RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR .....it was fantastic. Megan had been saying for weeks that she wanted to see that everytime it came on the TV so we surprised her.....she couldn't believe it when we went in and she read what was there......we had awesome seats, 4th row from the stage it was great. Afterwards we went to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory and had a nice meal.....all of us had a really good time and on the way home our little lady fell asleep. Posted by Picasa

My Poor Husband...

Well this his Ken's 3rd day off of work....he is sick. His body started aching on Monday afternoon evening and if anyone knows me that puts me right in a mood....I start to worry.

For those of you who don't know almost 7 years ago my husband got really sick, his body started to seize up on him and he started to drop a lot of weight (which he can't afford to loose). He was put into hospital for 2 weeks and was diagnoised with Vasculitis, his kidneys were affected at that time.....today almost 7 years later I am always paranoid in him getting that sick again. A few weeks ago we went to his specialist and we were informed that his Kidneys are functioning at 39% which is stage 3 of kidney disease....I do worry like crazy and this aching he has is probably just some type of virus but I don worry.....please pray for him to get better quickly.

Here Comes Santa Claus!

Tonight we went to the Santa Claus Parade. The weather was great, it wasn't to cold. We went out for a early supper to get us all warm inside before going to sit out on the side of the route......Megan was able to have her letter to Santa picked up from the Santa Express and then there he came with all his reindeer Santa himself.............Christmas is coming only 36 days to go! Here are some pictures of some of the many floats they had.....the first one on the top is Megan's after school program. Posted by Picasa

It's Getting There!

Well Megan's toys and things have been moved into her new playroom....this room is located just off our rec room where the Pub is.....there is a few minor things to do in this room like making the door for the braker box, and the ceiling will probably be done next year but all her things are moved in and she loves it....what do you think of the colour? Posted by Picasa

Once we finished loading everything into Megan's playroom we started to clean up the rec room side.....we didn't realize what time it was so we orderded a pizza in and ate our first meal in our basement.....the walls are yeallow in this picture, this will be changing. Posted by Picasa

Midterm Report!

Megan's Grade One Misterm Report came home tonight and let's just say we're really proud of our little girl. The grading system this yeargoes like this:

NI = Needs Improvement (below 60%)
S = Satisfactory (60%-69%)
G = Good (70%-79%)
VG = Very Good (80%-89%)
E = Excellent (90%-100%)

Our little girl got a lot of "E", a couple of "VG" and some "G".......she's working hard at school and loves it (most of the time). She's very hard on herself (a lot like my Dad was with himself), she came home with test marks from school the other day, the mark was an "A" and we said, "awesome job", and she said, "it's no an A+, that's the best"......we told her that her mark was great.......as long as she tries that's the main thing to us!

Starting Early....

Tonight I started to wrap some of the gifts I've bought for Christmas.....I am on top of it.....I normally shop early, but never do I wrap early....this year I am making a point of getting it done early.....I went and bought a few presents today and they are wrapped up now, not bad if I do say so myself.....none of these are for Megan, so I did have a little help from my "ELF"! 3 Years......

...today was a hard day for me......I lost my Dad 3 years ago today, it's been a rough 3 years without him.....it was hard to loose my Dad at the time of year I did since his favorite season/holiday was just appoaching.......in fact my Dad instilled the spirit and love of Christmas in me so I'm left to carry on his traditions and spirit for my family........so now we're approaching his favorite time of the year "Christmas" I've started listening to Christmas music already which always gets me to thinking about my Dad and the fun we had at Christmas, but not just at Christmas but all through the year.....I think instead of feeling sad and down on this day each year I should rejoice in what he gave me "life" "spirit" and "love"......these things are a gift from him and my Mom.....I am who I am because of them......this day each year I will work towards remembering the "Good Times" in which we had together, and not the loss of my Dad....although I do miss him so much and I know he knows that!

Family Night Out!

Tonight we went out for dinner and a movie. We went to see Flushed Away. It was hilarious....it is a story set beneath the streets of London....Megan, Ken and I sure had a good laugh. The voices are done by Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet....it was a good time.
