Clear Out!
Today after gymnastics I said to Megan that we needed to clear out some of the old toys that she doesn't play with anymore and give them to a shelter. "She doesn't want to give up her special things", she said, I told her I know, she said, "like the toys that were yours Mom that Grandad and Granny bought for you." She said, "we need to keep those because I want to give them to my kids one day, if I have any." What a kid!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Tonight my husband and daughter took me to the Keg for dinner for my birthday. Afterwards we were invited over to Yvonne and Eldon's. While we were there they had bought a Dairy Queen Cake (mmmmm good) and we had it. Megan carried the cake, with not a lot of grace (almost dropping it), it was a nice night.....Thanks everyone for a great day!
Oh To Be Young Again!
This was me many moons ago.....today I turn ##....yes it's my birthday at 10:20 am I was born ## years ago...this is me, this picture was taken at my first home which I grew up in for many years....I loved that house.....my parents had a done an English Pub in the basement it was awesome! My birthday is less important to me now.......it is very important to my daughter, so it is special but not like it used to be......My birthday was so important when my parents were alive, we would go over to there house and my Mom would make me my favorite supper "Steak & Kidney Pie" (don't say gross...I heard you!!!)....I figured that my birthday should be celebrated with my parents since they are the ones who brought me into this world....so it seems so much less important to me now....this will be the 3rd year without my Mom and 2nd without my Dad....it's hard to go past special days without them...I must live on the memories that they made for me each birthday as I grew up, and it's them I must thank for without me I wouldn't have what I have now, a wonderful husband and an amazing daughter! Thanks Mom and Dad for my life!

Confidence!
Megan had her first ever spelling test at school today. When she came home with the words on Monday I tested her right away to see how much we had to work on, she did really well, we didn't practise again until last night.....I tested her by saying the word then using the word in a sentence and then she had to print the word....she got them all right......So today after school I asked her how she did on her test and she said "I got them all right", I said "Great did the teacher mark them?" and she said "no not yet".....I tell you that's confidence!

Off Sick!
I'm sick today. Woke up in the middle of the night with a banging sore throat, I couldn't fall back to sleep it was that bad. It came on all of a sudden. Went to the doctor and it is a bad infection (that came on quick). Felt fine yesterday. I guess these things catch up to you eventually. Felt bad about calling in sick (as you all know I always do!), I shouldn't because I don't want anyone else getting sick. I just feel like I let people down when I do call in sick....plus I'm a bit possesive about my work!!! Oh well I'll be back at the grind tomorrow.....and to be honest as I'm typing this I still don't feel that great......hopefully I'll wake up in the morning feeling on top of the world! Here's to hoping!

Survivor 13 Cook Island!
Well Survivor 13 Cook Islands started tonight and once again the three of us each have a survivor in the pool which was arranged by our friends The Mackenzies (thanks!)......and as quick as it starts, it must end for ONE....and the one that was out was Sekou which was my husband Ken....someone always has to be the first out......this Survivor is sure to be quite different with the 4 seperate ethnic groups, some of the teams seem positive about it and others don't....we'll see what happens as we keep our Thursday ritual alive by watching Survivor: Cook Islands

Allergies!
It's that time of year again when allergies peak mainly from Ragweed. I am a sufferer of these things called allergies. For the past 5 years I have had needles to avoid the suffering......but I skipped out on thee needles this year, why you may ask yourself? Because I have Aichmophobia or Belonephobia (a fear of needles)! Yes I said a fear of needles.....It takes a lot for me to get one, and to go get a routine blood test, well lets just say the last one took me 2 months to muster up the courage to get it done.....so far I've been suffering with these allergies for a week and I have to say next year in June I will look at this post and remember that I MUST GET MY SHOTS! Because I can't handle these allergies! Gotta go and get the Reactine!

Grade 1 here she comes....

And she's off with her start to Grade 1....can't believe it really. She was so excited, we took her to her first day and she was talking that much with her friends we had to stop her to say bye to her and to have a great day (she's nothing like me at all). She had a great day, she's sitting at the front of the classroom hoping she stays out of trouble up there...she loved her first day.....
Tonight however she came home with homework, that smile faded quickly. She said, "I don't feel like doing it." Well I soon explained no matter how much you don't want to do it, you're still going to do it, I told her that the more time she complaions about it the more time she's taking from herself to do other things after.....the one thing we did praise her on was that she started the homework at the afterschool club on her own which was fantastic and we said that if she does that she won't have as much when she comes home....."Praise" is what she needed and "Praise" is what she got....way to go Megan!
