SK Christmas Concert

Tonight was Megan's Christmas Concert, she did excellent. Her class performed 2 songs, one was "Go Tell It On The Mountain" and the other was "Happy Happy Joy" the class did great. The overall concert was great and the chior was excellent. Megan would like to be in the chior but she'll have to wait until she is in grade 3 for that. We went to see the concert along with Megans Uncle Eldon and Aunt Yvonne. I will post pictures later when I receive them from Aunt Yvonne.

Naughty or Nice?

Naughty or Nice?

Here's a fun web site where you can check out if you're on Santa's naughty or nice list - it's clean so you can check it with kids around.

Here was mine: Still very much on nice list, but must continue good behavior. Should eat more vegetables instead of junk food. Was very polite last Thursday! When doing chores, needs to do them as well as possible. Often exhibits good behavior.

Trimming the Tree

Tonight we trimmed the tree. Megan of coarse put the angel on top...this year we used mostly My "Moms" decorations. Christmas music playing. We had a great night. Posted by Picasa

Scary Dream!

Last night we brought the Christmas tree in from the garage. We placed it in it's place and then we explained to Megan it needed to warm up before we decorate it and that we would do it tonight.....at 2:30 am I was woken by Megan literally jumping into our bed saying I'm scared, I'm scared....she's never done this before. She wouldn't talk about it at the time, so I just let her sleep for an hour with us then carried her back to her own room....This morning we asked her what her dream was about and she said a robbery was stealing our Christmas Tree....how sad, poor thing.....but she said she dreamt of gingerbread men when she was in our bed....funny thing she has them for a snack today for school.

Monday, December 12, 2005

The 3 of us were out for dinner tonight and we were talking about how busy things are and what things have to be done, I mentioned that we had dentist appointments as well to go to and Megan pipes up "and when do you think we'll have time to do that?" .....we sure ha d a good laugh at that.

Nativity Play

Tonight we went to KRT church where they had a Nativity Play. We went with our friends Yvonne & Eldon. It was a really enjoyable play which was good for the children for them to really understand what Christmas is really about. They had live animals and baby Jesus was a real baby which Megan thought was fantastic and that he was so "cute". We saw teachers from Megans school and the Pastor was one of Megan's friends from her class. It was a nice evening out to celebrate Christmas.

Weeks ago we would ask Megan what was special about Christmas and she would say presents, since then we have been discussing what Christmas really is about and she is also learning more about it at school and now she says it's about Jesus, family and presents.....What a kid at least she's starting to understand.

What a Stylist!

I don't think Megan will be taking up hairdressing in the future....this is her latest hairstyle in the bath. She gets her hair full of soap, stands up to look at herself in the mirror and creates a masterpiece.....I just had to take this picture! Posted by Picasa

I have been a Stranger

Well I haven't updated my blog in a while, I've been sick....and I'm still not feeling well. On Sunday I tried to decorate the house a bit, then again on Monday. I lost my voice on Tuesday and Wednesday (which some people were happy about...lol) and here I am today still feeling terrible....I've attempted to write Christmas Cards tonight and got through the majority of them (I need to get the ones out to England tomorrow) and so my list of things to do is starting to get shorter....I do need a break from doing things, but with me, if you know me that will be close to impossible.

Megan came home from school yesterday with her new reader and she was so excited to show us all about it, she was so proud of herself reading 20 pages to us and she wanted to go on. We think it's awesome how well she's doing.....she is really into the Math and English now and says Gym is boring.....she's not like her mother that is for sure! lol

Well in our family we like to share everything even the cold...so in saying that I now have that cold...Ugh! So today we were suppose to go to gymnastics and to our friends Daniela and Kevins (their new home) which we are disappointed about....we like to share a lot with our friends but not our colds!

Frustration....need to Vent!

Well you know it really gets me angry when you find out that someone has a problem with you and never tells you. Instead they complain to someone else and then they pass it on to the next person, only to find me catching that other person telling someone else....what people don't understand that is "gossiping"....if you're going to do it, careful where you do it and to whom you're going to tell it to.

A Good Read Below!

Can Gossiping on the Job Really Hurt You?

We all do it from time to time. Whether it's complaining about the latest comp-time policy change with your coworker in the file room or dishing about the latest spat between the CFO and the clerk in purchasing, gossiping on the job is almost an inevitable part of corporate culture. But is gossiping a positive way to build relationships, trade information for advancement and gauge the emotional health of the corporate community? Or is it akin to a toxic virus that spreads and ultimately weakens an organization's overall health, threatening your job security, chances for career advancement and professional happiness? As with most things involving human interaction, there are two sides to this common coin. Use the following advice to ensure you don't let your chitchat get in the way of your career. A Stressful Work Environment Peter Post, codirector of the Emily Post Institute and coauthor of The Etiquette Advantage in Business: Personal Skills for Professional Success, argues that there is a lot wrong with a little harmless gossip. "Gossiping and rumour-mongering add stress to the workplace," Post says. "Create stress in the workplace, and you create a situation in which people are not focusing on doing their work." This is why many companies have corporate policies that specifically restrict or prohibit on-the-job gossip and why management may not look kindly on those who engage in it. Stay in the Loop, Out of Trouble But the overall effects of negative gossip don't necessarily suggest you should completely refrain from being in the know about situations around you. In fact, many psychologists believe that not engaging in a little office gossip can actually hurt your career. Siobhan Mellor, clinical psychologist and author of the research paper, "Gossip -- the Nation's Favorite Pastime," believes that the right kind of gossip can be good for you. "Getting the latest gossip about the behaviour of others helps build a social map for what is accepted, weird, bad -- and even what kinds of actions improve our status and what doesn't," she says. Kate Adams, an editor who worked for a major New York publishing company, recalls being chastised in her peer performance review, because she had admitted to not being in the know about her boss's sudden resignation in favour of a new position at another house. "I thought the polite thing to do was to pretend that I hadn't noticed my boss leaving for long lunches and apparently going on interviews," says Adams. "As an assistant, I always tried to cover for my boss, and I thought that included not talking about her obvious job search. But my coworkers thought it was a sign that I was out of the loop and that I was somebody who wasn't going places." Seven Tips to Good Gossiping Karen Kirchner, managing partner of Career Management Consulting, believes that you can indulge in a little on-the-job gossip safely and without guilt, as long as you follow these seven rules:
· Only gossip now and then, and be aware of who is listening.
· Don't spend too much time with known office gossips, or you may be judged guilty by association.
· Listen carefully, but say as little as possible. Don't appear to be an ambulance chaser or a tattletale so that you can be the one with the scoop.
· Work on the principle that whatever you say will be repeated. Think about the implications of this before you speak.
· Consider the source of gossip and the source's hidden motives. People sometimes plant information to manipulate a situation.
· Do not badmouth people; your comments will often come back to haunt you as alliances shift in the workplace.
· If something you say gets back to a friend or colleague in a way that you wish it hadn't, apologize and be honest. This is the only way of salvaging your reputation and limiting the damage.

Dinner....then what!

We went out to dinner with Yvonne and Eldon tonight, we went to the Mandarin, it was a good time. We ate and ate and ate......and talked, laughed, and laughed. We really enjoy being with them.

After dinner Ken, Megan and I went to a "90th" open house drop in. While we were there we saw people we hadn't seen in a while. It wasn't a very good time as Megan ended up being bitten in the face by a dog and we ended up in hospital. She was really scared (obviously). The doctors told us she will have a scar on her mouth. We have to follow up on Monday with our family doctor and we must watch for infection. She is on a high dose of antibiotics but the doctor said that an animal bite is very infectious so watch her, she will be having a tetnus shot as well on Monday. There are 2 small bite marks on her forehead as well but they are fine. I will keep you posted!

What Great PD Days!

Well Megan has had 2 PD days (Thir & Fri) and I took them off to spend the days with her and what great days they were. The weather was perfect, we went to breakfast one day, a bit of shopping for her operation Christmas box, went to the park and the next day we went to lunch, did crafts and had fun! Tonight Megan went to see Chicken Little with her Dad and went to dinner while I went to Orangeville to dinner and a theatre show with my Mom's friends from line dancing....I really enjoy seeing them, it's hard for me to see them as my Mom was very fond of them and when I see them it brings everything back...I realize I must continue on with things even if it makes my emotions run....I know I will always feel this way and it's okay! I want to thank Pennie for inviting me I really did enjoy myself.
